Formula and worked example

L/hour = fuel litres / runtime hours. L/kWh = fuel litres / generated kWh. kWh/L = generated kWh / fuel litres. Fuel ₹/kWh = litres × ₹ per litre / generated kWh. Estimated-energy mode uses average electrical kW × hours.

Worked example

Measured 80 L in 8 running hours with 240 generated kWh at ₹90/L gives 10 L/hour, 0.3333 L/kWh, 3 kWh/L and ₹30/kWh fuel-only. A further 10 hours at the same measured rate projects 100 L / ₹9,000; a changed load can change that rate.

Using this tool

Enter the actual equipment and project values. The Use example button loads an illustrative case. Calculation happens in your browser; no Python, API key or account is required. Use the result details to see the inputs and scope, copy the result, download CSV or print.

Diesel, running hours और generated units एक ही समय-अवधि के होने चाहिए। केवल DG की kVA rating से exact diesel consumption नहीं निकलती। यहाँ ₹/unit में सिर्फ fuel cost शामिल है।

Common questions

Can nameplate DG kVA predict exact diesel usage?

No. Load, engine/generator performance and operating conditions affect consumption. This tool analyses recorded fuel and energy rather than inventing a fixed litres/hour from kVA.

Which costs are included?

Only the entered diesel price. Maintenance, lubricants, staffing, finance and capital costs are outside the reported fuel cost per generated kWh.

What if I do not have a generated-energy meter?

Choose estimated-energy mode and enter a justified average electrical kW load. The result is labelled as an energy estimate, not measured generation.
