6 Types of Air Circuit Breaker(ACB)
Technical functions and their features.
1- Types of ACB:
Different types of ACB are available for different type applications as pole, capacity, installation type, breaking capacity, etc. Types of ACB Details are given below mentioned.
A- Pole Type ACB:
Three pole means three-phase and four pole means three phases with neutral.

B- According Current Capacity Type::
ACB capacity of current rating is 400A to 6300A. Details are given below mentioned.

C- Fixed or Draw Out Type ACB:
Fixed type:
Fixed type ACB is mounted on the chassis of the panel. It cannot be drawn out. Draw out mechanism as cradle and safety shutter are not used.it is a low-cost ACB according to draw out ACB.
Draw out type:
Draw out ACB are commonly used in industries.it can be moved on the cradle for outside in inside for maintenance purposes. It can be replaced without changing the base chamber. Faulty ACB can be replaced with a new one easily.

Breaking capacity of ACB is 25KA to 200 KA as per breaking code. details given below mentioned...

E- According Operation as EDO & MDO Type:
ACB is operated as two type, one is EDO type (electrically draw out) and second is MDO (mechanically draw out).
1- According operation-EDO & MDO type ACB:
Basicly EDO type ACB is operated as remotely as easily from any distance through networking system. Maintly 3 Nos functions are used in EDO type ACB. these functions below mentioned
- Spring charging:- spring is charged through electrical motor in auto mode.
- Closing coil: It is operated through TNC or remotely through PLC or BMS system
- Shunt coil or tripping coil:It is operated through TNC or remotly through PLC or BMS
When ACB is charged and closed with the electrical release then it is called as EDO type. Spring charge motors are used for spring charging and a closing coil is used for closing breaker.
2- Mechanically operated draw out (MDO)
MDO type ACB is totly operated in mannualy mode it can not be operated throug other source. When ACB is charged manually without spring charge motor and ACB is closed without closing coil then it is called MDO type ACB.Two nos press button are used for ACB start and stop operation . If we want to switched on then we will have to press the on button and for stopping stop button will have to press.
